American Capital Realizes 27% Return on Investment in Plastech
Bethesda, MD – February 23, 2004 – American Capital Strategies Ltd. (Nasdaq:ACAS) announced today Plastech Engineered Products Inc. has prepaid American Capital's remaining subordinated debt investment, together with accrued interest and fees. Plastech prepaid $20 million of the original $30 million subordinated debt investment in the first quarter of 2003, resulting in a $1.6 million realized gain. In the first quarter of 2004, Plastech has prepaid the remaining $10 million subordinated debt investment, resulting in an additional $0.7 million realized gain. American Capital earned a 27% total return on its $30 million subordinated debt investment, including interest and fees received over the life of American Capital's investment. Plastech's repayment occurred as part of an acquisition and recapitalization. American Capital retains its warrants for common stock representing a 2% diluted ownership of the company. [more...]
American Capital Realizes $3.8 Million in Capital Gains; $47 Million Return of Capital
Bethesda, MD – April 3, 2003 – American Capital Strategies Ltd. (Nasdaq:ACAS) announced today that it has received $47 million in prepayments and exits on three portfolio companies in the first quarter of 2003, realizing $3.8 million in gains. American Capital has completely exited its investment in senior debt and senior subordinated debt with warrants of Lubricating Specialties Company, earning a 19% compounded annual return. American Capital has partially exited its investment in subordinated notes issued by Weston Solutions Inc., earning a cumulative 32% compounded annual return, and has partially exited its subordinated notes issued by Plastech Engineered Products Inc., earning an excellent return. American Capital Invests $30 Million in Plastech Engineered Products
Bethesda, MD – November 27, 2001 – American Capital Strategies Ltd. (Nasdaq:ACAS) announced today that it has invested $30 million of senior subordinated notes in Plastech Engineered Products Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of interior and exterior automotive components and systems supplying original equipment manufacturers and tier one suppliers in the automotive industry. Plastech is one of the largest minority owned suppliers of automotive components in the United States. American Capital's investment funds, in part, a component sourcing agreement with Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), a manufacturer of automotive systems.
